In the second semester of the Civil Engineering (CE) diploma program, students will undergo MSBTE theory exams covering four subjects with 70 marks each – Applied Mathematics, Engineering Mechanics, Building Material Construction, and Surveying. An online exam for the Applied Science subject, also worth 70 marks, is included. The educational approach emphasizes practical learning.

During the second semester of their Civil Engineering diploma, students will delve into subjects like Engineering Mechanics, Building Material Construction, and Surveying. Applied Mathematics and Applied Science are designed to help students grasp the practical applications of mathematics and science crucial for civil engineering studies.

The curriculum, following MSBTE’s K scheme, ensures a straightforward passing criterion of at least 40 out of 100. The assessment method involves a 30-70 mark distribution, incorporating formative (FA-TH) and summative (SA-TH) evaluations. FA-TH is the average of two 30-mark class tests conducted during the semester, while SA-TH is the 70-mark theory paper administered by MSBTE at the semester's end.

The 'K' Scheme Curriculum for the Diploma has been revised for the academic year 2023–24. The official announcement of the second semester curriculum was made in November 2023, with the draft curriculum displayed up to the sixth semester. The syllabus for all second semesters is now accessible. Moving into the second year, students will engage in more technical subjects, shaping a comprehensive learning experience.
