Table of Contents

In the second semester of their Mechanical Engineering (ME) diploma, students will tackle MSBTE theory exams covering four subjects – Applied Mathematics, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, and Manufacturing Technology – each carrying 70 marks. The online examination will focus on the Applied Science subject, also with a weightage of 70 marks. The educational approach places a significant emphasis on a hands-on, practical study method.

Mechanical Engineering students will immerse themselves in subjects closely tied to their field: Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Drawing, and Manufacturing Technology. Applied Mathematics and Applied Science play pivotal roles in helping students grasp the real-world applications of mathematics and science, essential for success in mechanical engineering studies.

Under MSBTE's K Scheme Curriculum, the path to passing is straightforward, requiring a minimum score of 40 out of 100. The evaluation system adopts a 30-70 mark structure, incorporating formative (FA-TH) and summative (SA-TH) assessments. Formative assessments represent the average of two 30-mark class tests conducted during the semester, while summative assessments involve the 70-mark theory paper administered by MSBTE at the semester's end.

The 'K' Scheme Curriculum for the Diploma has undergone revisions for the academic year 2023–24, a step announced officially in November 2023. The second semester curriculum, along with drafts up to the sixth semester, is now available. This curriculum shift introduces students to more technical subjects starting from the second year, offering a unique and enriched learning experience.

In the second semester of the Mechanical Engineering diploma, you will typically study the following theory exam subjects:(Offline Exam Subjects)

1. APPLIED MATHEMATICS (AMS): This subject focuses on applying mathematical principles to solve problems in the context of Mechanical engineering.

2. ENGINEERING MECHANICS (EGM): This subject covers the principles of engineering mechanics, providing a foundation for understanding the behavior of structures and materials.

3. MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY (MPR): This subject involves the study of materials used in Manufacturing Items and Products.

4.  ENGINEERING DRAWING ( EDG): Drawing is the practice of measuring and mapping the environment, which is crucial in Mechanical engineering for planning and design.

Additionally, there is an online examination for one subject, which is a combination of Physics and Chemistry:(Online Exam Subjects)

1. APPLIED SCIENCE (ASC): This subject likely covers the application of scientific principles to practical situations in the field of Mechanical engineering.

These subjects together aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical concepts and practical skills in the field of Mechanical engineering during the second semester of the diploma program.
